Spreading Our Wings: Innovation and Restoration with Nest Living
The latest edition of Nest Living (Issue 4) marks a significant milestone in our journey: we are officially spreading our wings with the launch of Nest Associates in Auckland, New Zealand. From the prestigious Vinegar Lane penthouses to luxury apartments overlooking the Kepa Bush Reserve, our expansion proves that our core philosophy putting the customer at the heart of everything we do resonates just as strongly on the other side of the globe. Whether you are looking for a character cottage in Somerset or a high-spec architectural statement in Auckland, our mission remains to transform the experience of moving from a simple transaction into a meaningful life transition.
A highlight of this issue is the incredible story of our Walton-on-Thames associate, Mark Spriggs. Mark’s personal passion for property led to a truly "amazing" discovery in his own back garden: a derelict 1885 Victorian train carriage that had once traveled between London and Brighton. After surviving the First World War as troop transport and spending a century as a garden outbuilding, the carriage was meticulously restored by Mark and his wife, Michelle. This ambitious project even caught the eye of George Clarke, featuring on the television show Amazing Spaces. Mark’s journey from "amateur restorer" to guest-room host perfectly mirrors our belief that moving home is about more than bricks and mortar; it’s about the renewal and history that every home carries within it.
At Nest Associates, we pride ourselves on being marketeers, not just estate agents. We understand that the UK property market has often lagged behind the rest of the world, relying on outdated strategies that prioritize profits over people. We’ve turned that model on its head by utilizing the best modern technology and creative lifestyle marketing to showcase "homes with beating hearts". One of our most successful innovations is our "Early Bird" social media strategy. By following us on Facebook and Instagram, our community gains exclusive access to upcoming listings before they ever hit major portals like Rightmove, giving both buyers and sellers a distinct advantage in a fast-moving market.
Beyond the business of buying and selling, we remain deeply committed to our local communities. In this issue, we are proud to share the results of our Nest Giving challenge. In memory of Joan, the grandmother of our associate George, seven members of our team successfully climbed Ben Nevis, the UK’s highest mountain. Together, we raised over £2,100 for St. Margaret’s Hospice to support the incredible end-of-life care they provide. This spirit of care and dedication defines who we are as a business whether we are climbing mountains for charity or helping you find the place where you truly belong.
